FAQs

Everything you might want to ask.

Twenty of the questions we hear most, answered in plain English.

How much does a house extension cost?

Extension costs vary with size, specification and site conditions. As a guide, single-storey extensions in Herefordshire typically start from around £1,800–£2,800 per m² for a premium finish. We provide detailed itemised quotations so you know exactly where every pound is being spent.

Do you provide free quotations?

Yes — every quotation is free and provided in writing following a site visit. There's no obligation and no pressure.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We hold comprehensive public liability insurance and appropriate cover for all works we carry out, and we can provide certificates on request.

Can you install RSJs and remove load-bearing walls?

Absolutely. We work with structural engineers to specify the correct steels, obtain building control approval, and install them safely with minimal disruption to your home.

Do I need planning permission for an extension?

Many extensions fall under Permitted Development, but this depends on size, location and property type. We'll advise on your specific project and can liaise with architects and planning consultants where required.

How long does a typical patio take?

A standard 30–50 m² Indian sandstone patio typically takes 5–10 working days, depending on ground preparation and access. Larger or multi-level installations take longer.

Can you match existing brickwork?

Yes. We source matching or reclaimed brick and use appropriate mortar mixes to ensure new work blends seamlessly with the existing property.

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Hereford and regularly work across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and the surrounding counties including Leominster, Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury, Bromyard, Kington, Hay-on-Wye and Ludlow.

Do you remove waste and clean the site?

Yes. All waste is removed, the site is swept and tidied every evening, and we leave the property spotless on completion. Clean sites are part of how we work.

Can you manage a project from start to finish?

Yes — from initial design conversations through structural engineering, planning, groundworks, build, finishes and landscaping. One team, one point of contact.

Do you work with architects and structural engineers?

Yes, regularly. We can recommend trusted local professionals or work seamlessly with your own team.

How long does a two-storey extension take?

A typical two-storey rear extension takes around 14–20 weeks depending on complexity, glazing lead times and finishes.

Do you offer garage conversions?

Yes. Garage conversions are a highly cost-effective way to add usable living space. We handle everything from insulation and floor levelling to windows, plastering and finishes.

Can you build a retaining wall on a sloped garden?

Yes. We design and build engineered retaining walls in brick, block, natural stone or a combination — with the appropriate drainage and reinforcement.

Do you provide guarantees on your work?

Yes. All our workmanship is guaranteed, and manufacturer warranties apply to materials used.

How soon can you start?

Larger projects are typically booked several weeks in advance. We're always happy to discuss timelines during your quotation.

Do you take a deposit?

For larger projects, a modest deposit is usually taken to schedule works and order materials. Payment stages are always agreed in writing before we begin.

Can you help with design and layout ideas?

Do you work on commercial projects?
